If you’ve read any of my content before, you’ll know that I often try to spark something in you, a moment of reflection, a question, or a curiosity to explore further. That’s the coaching influence coming through. I genuinely believe that most of the answers we seek are already within us, waiting to be unlocked by the right prompt or inspiration.
That said, I also believe there’s real value in drawing on the work others have done, especially when it’s grounded in study, experience, and research.
While exploring the topic of happiness, I came across a brilliant organisation called Action for Happiness. Their mission is simple but powerful:
To help people create a happier world, with a culture that prioritises happiness and kindness.
Their approach is grounded in research and psychology, and they’ve identified ten key areas that contribute to happier living, captured in the acronym GREAT DREAM:
How we connect with the world (GREAT):
Giving: Doing things for others
Relating:Connecting with people
Exercising: Taking care of your body
Awareness: Living mindfully
Trying Out: Learning new things
Our internal mindset (DREAM):
Direction: Having goals to look forward to
Resilience: Finding ways to bounce back
Emotions:Looking for what’s good
Acceptance: Being comfortable with who you are
Meaning:Being part of something bigger
I’ll be exploring many of these areas throughout this website, sharing insights, practices, and personal reflections to help you explore your own wellbeing.
Action for Happiness also offers simple, practical tools to support you including a free app with daily prompts and monthly calendars filled with small, actionable steps to help you boost your mood and mindset.
If you’re curious, I really encourage you to check them out. Who knows what small action might open the door to a little more joy?
